CANINE GOOD CITIZEN

 

Receive the preparation you’ll need to take the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test, a certification program designed to reward dogs who demonstrate good manners at home and in the community.

For dogs older than 16 weeks old.
Five weekly, 45 minute classes. $110 cash or check
The test will be held on the 6th week of class.

Workshop, 1.5 hours. $20 cash or check (no test, just the workshop)

Over the course of the class, we help you to perfect the following exercises:

  • Accepting a friendly stranger
  • Sitting politely for petting
  • Appearance and grooming
  • Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead)
  • Walking through a crowd
  • Sit and down on command - staying in place
  • Coming when called
  • Reaction to another dog
  • Reaction to distraction
  • Supervised separation

 

Requirements

Dogs must be friendly with other dogs and people.

Age: Dogs who are older than 16 weeks.

Pre-requisite: Must have completed Puppy II or Dog Training I (or equivelant)

Vaccine: Rabies vaccine or up-to-date vaccination is required.

Length: 

This class is $110 for five consecutive sessions unless a break is mentioned. Each session is approximately 45 minutes per week. Each session will meet on the same day and time each week. The CGC test is given on the sixth week of class.

Payment: 

Payment is due on the first day of class. Classes are non-refundable, non-transferrable. This class is $110.00 cash or check

If you are JUST taking the test, the cost is $15.00. You do need to register if you're just taking the test only.
